Celebrating the Icons: Top 15 Latin Albums of 2024 Featuring Rauw Alejandro, Young Miko, Álvaro Díaz, and Latin Mafia.

Oh man, 2024 has been such a wild ride in the Latin music scene! Seriously, it felt like a party with all the beats and melodies flying around. Artists really brought their A-game, and I just dove headfirst into this musical adventure, following my gut and checking out projects that really clicked with me. I put together this list of my favourite albums, steering clear of all the mainstream noise (well at least attempting to) and really exploring what Latin music has to offer. Sure, a lot of these albums leaned into that urban vibe, but a few went off the beaten path with some fresh influences. I listened to them all kinds of ways—front to back, shuffling—just trying to soak in every unique sound. So, here’s the scoop on how I rated these gems.

Flow

Do the tracks in the album transition properly?

Is there fluidity in sound?

If there is a story, does it have a proper pathway/journey?

Flows between songs don’t need to have built-in transitions between the tracks, but is there a reason to why they exist in that order?

Are there any limits being pushed by the artist?

Completeness

Is this project complete? Are there songs that belong or don’t belong? Are there any holes in its delivery? Is it overproduced, or is there actual care in its fruition?

Is there excess tracks that don’t need to be on the album or could’ve been on a separate project? Does the album need more work, or was there space for more potential?

Longevity & Timelessness

Can I listen to this album on repeat and not get sick of it? Do I see this album being relevant for the next 5 to 10 years?

How often can I listen to this without hating it and especially NOT SKIPPING any songs?

Enjoyment

Strictly subjective opinion! Did I enjoy this album (_/10) Where does it fit in my day-to-day now?

Is it fun? Do I feel the emotions from it? Am I engulfed in the experience?

Through these criteria, they will objectively be put into what I thought were the top. Even more myself, I was honestly shocked! Some albums that had me in a headlock didn’t score as high in certain areas, but that is because I tried to be as realistic about my listening experience this year. So these are a mixture of my objective and subjective thoughts on each project, and the order is determined by their scoring and not where I think they rank. In this article, I’ll spill my top three tracks, give you a glimpse into why these albums are my faves and share one that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Just to preface, that one track that missed the cut isn’t the “worst” or anything; it just didn’t vibe with me the same way, or I found myself skipping it a bit more than the rest.

If you don't want to read it all just jump to the bottom here!

Enough talk! Let’s get into it!

Album Cover of Baño Maria by Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso
Album Cover of Baño Maria by Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso

This pair from Argentina dropped the beat-blasting electronic album, Baño Maria on April 17, 2024. This 12 track LP hits like a jolt of caffeine to the senses, keeping you grooving from start to finish. Picture yourself cruising around on sultry weekends, this album as your soundtrack, never hitting a dull moment. It's playful, alluring, and flirty, transporting you straight to a clandestine rave.

At first, the essence of this album felt a bit mysterious—more about the thrill of the ride than a clear destination. It’s a bit like a road trip where the journey matters more than the final stop. The album doesn’t follow a traditional narrative, and that's part of its charm. While it might not have a tightly woven storyline, it’s undeniably fun. The tracks flow seamlessly, blending into one another to create an effortless vibe, though I can't help but feel like it might be more about chance than a carefully curated mix. Still, it works—this is the kind of album that you can throw on at a party or during a drive, and it delivers exactly what it promises: energy and fun.

There’s a noticeable diversity in rhythms, tempos, and vocal styles, keeping the album from feeling too repetitive, yet it doesn’t offer much beyond surface-level enjoyment. It’s consistent in tone, with tracks that maintain a lively, beach-party feel throughout. While it doesn’t go deep into exploration, its infectious energy is what makes it so enjoyable. I’ve found myself belting out lines like “we’ve been f*cking the same girl” and “Puede, puede, la que puede, puede” ever since their Tiny Desk performance, and it’s clear that these tracks have staying power. The catchy rhythms and playful energy give it longevity, making it a hit that will stick around in playlists for a while yet. It might not be the most groundbreaking release, but it’s a solid, high-energy album that knows exactly what it wants to be—and it nails that vibe every time.

Album Cover of Le Clique: Vida Rockstar by JHAYCO
Album Cover of Le Clique: Vida Rockstar by JHAYCO

Ladies and gents, get ready to turn up the volume because Puerto Rico's own JHAYCO is back in action! He released his highly anticipated album, Le Clique: Vida Rockstar, three years after his last hit, Timelezz on September 6, 2024. This new project boasts an impressive 29 tracks and nearly two hours of pure musical magic.

With its edgy beats and swagger-filled vibes, JHAYCO is inviting you to experience the glam and grit of rockstar life. Each track is a testament to his evolution as an artist, blending the worlds of trap and rock in a way that only he can. Grab your headphones, crank up the sound, and let JHAYCO take you on a wild ride through his visionary universe. You won’t want to miss this!

JHAYCO’s Le Clique: Vida Rockstar is an album with a bold, punk-rock aesthetic that’s both gritty and glamorous—think black leather, ripped edges, and an attitude that’s sin glitter. The concept fits him perfectly, with his raspy, gritty vocals adding to the raw energy. The album reflects his "rockstar" life on the road, as he describes it in interviews, but I can’t help feeling that outside the look and the vibe, the concept doesn’t quite go much deeper. As a result, the overall theme doesn’t really push past a 7/10 for me in terms of depth.

The album unfolds in three parts, each meant to have its own distinct energy. While the intention is there, the flow of the album is a bit repetitive—many of the tracks follow a similar formula, making it hard to fully appreciate the shifts between parts. It’s still enjoyable as a steady listen, but I wouldn’t call it an impressive evolution in flow.

At 29 tracks and nearly two hours, Le Clique is an ambitious project. Compared to JHAYCO’s past work, it feels like a step into a new territory, though his signature style is still front and center. Part I stands out the most, with tracks like "En La Bentley," "El Final," and "Porsche Carrera" capturing the luxe, carefree vibe that defines the album's rockstar theme. However, things get more eclectic and experimental in the latter half, with genre-blending tracks like "Vida Rockstar," "Passoa" ft. Kapo, and "Ex-Special" ft. Peso Pluma. It’s a whirlwind of trap, reggaeton, and pop, and while it’s refreshing, it sometimes feels a bit much.

The album does start to lose steam after a while. Some tracks feel like they could’ve been saved for an EP or as singles, as the 29-song runtime can start to feel like a marathon. The constant energy and similar vibes make the later songs blur together, and I found myself wishing for more variation to keep the momentum exciting. While it’s clear that JHAYCO and his team put a lot of effort into this, the tracklist could’ve used more fine-tuning.

Even with its flaws, there’s something undeniably addictive about Le Clique: Vida Rockstar. It has that rebellious, rockstar energy that’s true to JHAYCO’s persona, and it’s still a go-to when I’m curating playlists. I’m a fan of the album, but I do think it could’ve benefited from a more concise, refined approach. If there’d been more space for each track to breathe, it could’ve been a knockout. Still, its bold moves and high energy earn it a spot in my top 15 albums of 2024—it’s fun, experimental, and full of potential. With a tighter tracklist and a little more space to breathe, it could’ve really made a lasting impact.

Album Cover of Para Todas Las Mamacitas by Lyanno
Album Cover of Para Todas Las Mamacitas by Lyanno

On June 28, 2024, Lyanno dropped Para Todas Las Mamacitas, and let me tell you, this album is sexy. Like, seriously sexy. I got to see him perform live with Rauw Alejandro at Fuego Fuego 2024 in Montreal, so having this album follow that hype was chef’s kiss. At first, I wasn’t completely sold—it didn’t hit me immediately. But after a few more listens? I got it. This album is made for women to feel themselves, to embrace their confidence, and vibe in their most unapologetically sexy form. And trust me, it works.

As a woman, I can’t help but appreciate an album that’s fully catered to the female ear—Para Todas Las Mamacitas nails that sensual, confident vibe, empowering women to own their sexuality and power. Lyanno taps into something fresh by giving us a perspective we don’t often hear in the male-dominated world of reggaeton and R&B. It’s the kind of album that gets it right without overcomplicating things, and honestly, I’m here for it. It works, and I’m not mad at all.

The flow of the album has a bit of a rollercoaster effect, with some tracks bringing the hype and others dialing it down. However, the consistent tone keeps everything grounded, making it easy to vibe along with the entire project. Despite the dips in energy, the album never feels jarring, maintaining a steady sensual rhythm throughout.

While the majority of the album sticks to those signature reggaeton beats, Lyanno isn’t afraid to experiment. You’ll hear subtle touches of reggae, alternative trap, and smooth R&B crooning—adding layers of depth to an otherwise familiar vibe. It’s a cool mix that elevates the album without losing that signature Lyanno touch.

That said, there are a couple of tracks that feel a bit superfluous. It doesn’t ruin the album, but I do think it could’ve benefited from a bit more risk and creative expansion. A little more experimentation could’ve pushed it into a more dynamic territory, but that’s a small critique in an otherwise solid project.

This album is an easy repeat listen. It might not be getting the attention it deserves right now, but I can already tell some of these tracks will have lasting power. They’ve already infiltrated almost every playlist I’ve curated. In a way, Para Todas Las Mamacitas feels like it’s destined to be a staple in reggaeton lovers' playlists. The more I listen, the more I crave it. Lyanno really knows how to treat the listener, and if I’m being honest, it makes me want a man who treats me the same way. It’s a go-to now, whether I’m vibing to it front-to-back or just craving a specific track.

Album Cover for Sol Maria by Eladio Carrion
Album Cover for Sol Maria by Eladio Carrion

What a surprisingly cute album! Yes, I just called a trap album from Eladio Carrión "cute"—and I’m sticking to it. Released on January 19, 2024, Sol Maria is an unexpected love letter to his biggest fan—his mom. How sweet is that? At first, I wasn’t entirely sold. Maybe it was the hype, or maybe I wasn’t in the mood for another trap project. But that was a huge mistake. The moment I slipped on my headphones, got lost in the beats, and dug deeper into the stories and interviews behind the album, I couldn't help but fall for it. Sol Maria isn’t just another trap record—it’s heartfelt, genuine, and, yes, surprisingly endearing.

Sol Maria is a deeply personal project for Eladio Carrión—an album created with his mom in mind, full of songs he thought she’d love to hear. Honestly, that alone is just heartwarming. As someone who values family, this album hit me right in the feels. Sure, there are moments where I thought, “Wait, you wrote that for your mom?” but it doesn’t detract from the overall genuine, lighthearted vibe. The love and sincerity shine through, and if this is the music his mom jams to, she’s got excellent taste.

The album doesn’t follow a specific storyline, but you can tell Carrion put thought into the flow for pure enjoyment. It starts with bright, lively energy and then transitions into those signature trap finishes. The balance is there, though the tracklist could’ve been rearranged to enhance the vibe a little more. Still, it feels like an album designed for the simple joy of listening, and that’s exactly what it delivers.

There’s a surprising level of diversity here. While the album sticks to Carrion’s signature sound, you’ll find some unexpected, sunnier tracks that really add a new dimension. They’re refreshing, and after a few listens, you’ll find yourself smiling along to the warmth and lightness they bring.

The album sounds great, but it doesn’t feel fully fleshed out as a cohesive project. It has more of a mixtape or playlist vibe—something you’d put together for a friend—which isn’t bad, but I think a bit more intentionality behind the tracklist could have made it feel more like a complete statement. It’s a fun listen, but not one that leaves you feeling like it’s a masterpiece that’ll make other artists take notice.

That said, it has great replay value. It’s not too exhausting to throw on whenever, but I can see it fading out over time. It doesn’t feel like it’ll stay on heavy rotation forever, but it’ll definitely have its moment. Listening to it honestly makes me feel like a wholesome gangster. The theme behind the album elevates the experience, making it fun and satisfying from start to finish—even if not every track screams “wholesome.” It’s simple, but in the best way possible.

P.s.: Dear Eladio Carrion,Is your mom available? because if her music taste is like how you laid out your album, I want to hang out with her, please. Thank you, Jasmine

11. ATP by NSQK 33/45
Album Cover of ATP by NSQK
Album Cover of ATP by NSQK

ATP by Monterrey, Mexico's NSQK is a captivating journey. Released on August 14, 2024, ATP (short for Aún Te Pienso, or I Still Think About You) is a 17-track experimental album that invites listeners into an immersive and emotive experience. With its "Radio ATP" concept, the album seamlessly blends diverse genres, evoking a sense of longing and romance that lingers throughout. After being won over by NSQK's collaboration with Álvaro Díaz earlier this year, I was eager to dive into this unique sound—and it did not disappoint. From start to finish, ATP delivers a refreshingly original take on modern music.

I’m a sucker for nostalgia, and ATP nails that vibe, especially with the playful Radio ATP skits that bring a fun, almost cinematic feel to the album. Seriously, if you're not driving to music, what are you doing? The car is the ultimate testing ground for whether a song holds up, and this album fits perfectly into that space. It’s the kind of soundtrack you can vibe with in the background of your daily routine while still carrying emotional depth.

What I love about a well-executed experimental album is when the producer seamlessly blends sounds, and ATP does this effortlessly. The flow feels solid and intentional from start to finish, with each track building off the last to create a cohesive listening experience. It’s dynamic yet easygoing—like a smooth ride you don’t want to end.

The diversity across the tracks is impressive. Every song offers something fresh, and the way the sound evolves is beautifully executed. While the album’s R&B influence is strong and appreciated, there’s room for more experimentation. The features from El Malilla, paopao, Álvaro Díaz, and Easykid add depth, but I’d love to see NSQK push those boundaries just a little further to really expand the sonic landscape.

ATP is a solid, well-rounded album, but there’s still room for growth. The emotional depth and the overall concept make it an immersive experience, and I gave it an 8/10 for completeness. A bit more risk-taking could have pushed it to greater heights, but it still delivers on what it promises—an engaging and enjoyable listen.

I don’t see myself tiring of this album anytime soon. Its easy-listening nature gives it a certain effortless longevity. While it may not have fully pushed the boundaries yet, I can see it sticking around for a long time. It’s a laid-back album that wraps around you like a warm ray of sunlight. Whether you’re listening passively or diving in deeper, it’s the kind of album that makes you feel at ease, gently pulling you in and keeping you engaged without overwhelming.

Album Cover of Submarine by The Marias
Album Cover of Submarine by The Marias

The Marías are back and better than ever with Submarine, their second album released on May 31, 2024! This alternative group dives deep into the raw emotions of a breakup, all wrapped in a smooth pop package that’s both dreamy and captivating. With hints of Beach House’s signature vibe, the album still shines with Maria Zardoya’s bright, ethereal vocals, pulling you through the emotional rollercoaster of heartache. Personally, Submarine hit me right where I needed it to, and that’s what makes music so powerful—it speaks to you when you least expect it!

Breakup albums might not be rare, but when done right, they’re always powerful. Submarine takes that concept and elevates it, with its melancholic yet stunningly beautiful sound. The Marías have created a fully realized concept, where both the music and visuals work in harmony to deliver an emotionally resonant experience. It's a breakup album that feels complete, deeply immersive, and transformative.

The Marías are experts at blending their sounds, making each track flow seamlessly into the next. There’s no jarring shift between songs—just a continuous, cohesive journey. The way they capture emotion through their music, not just the lyrics, is striking. The soundscapes themselves evoke the depth of each moment, allowing you to feel the emotions of the album in a way that words alone can’t convey.

While not the most diverse album, its consistency is what carries it. The lack of variety doesn’t detract from its power—if anything, it enhances the focused sound that ties everything together. Each track feels intentional, like it has its own place within the narrative, creating a complete, unified experience.

Dreamy pop has a timeless quality to it, and Submarine nails that feeling. It’s fun, sweet, effortlessly catchy, and has a certain magic that transforms your day. I knew this one was going to be on repeat after hearing it on the train in Montreal. It just has that perfect vibe that makes everything feel more vibrant and alive.

Even though it’s a breakup album, the balance of optimism and melancholy in most of the songs makes me daydream, swaying along to the music. Even the sadder tracks manage to keep things light, wrapping you up in the emotion without ever feeling weighed down.

Album Cover of HENRY by Jesse Baez
Album Cover of HENRY by Jesse Baez

Here’s an expanded and more intriguing version of your intro:

Jesse Freaking Baez. I can't help but gush—this man and his voice are absolutely magnetic. HENRY (High Earner, Not Rich Yet) takes us on a personal journey through Jesse’s rise in the music industry, offering an honest, intimate look at his evolution as an artist. From the moment I heard he was dropping another album, all I could think was, "In Jesse Baez, I trust." And trust me, he delivers. His signature smooth R&B vocals and rich, delicate sound make every track feel like a deeply personal experience. Whether he’s reflecting on success, struggle, or self-discovery, HENRY weaves a story that's as captivating as it is soulful. This album doesn’t just hit—it resonates, leaving you hooked from start to finish.

HENRY offers a playful yet sophisticated concept with its The Office-inspired visuals and Jesse Baez’s sharp suit-and-tie vibe. The album blends hypnotic, lounge-infused sounds with a subtle edge, showcasing Baez’s growth as an artist. There’s a natural evolution from Amor en Español, with moments of solemnity that keep things fresh and engaging.

The flow is where HENRY excels. The smooth transitions between tracks create a cohesive journey, and while the sound doesn’t vary much, the occasional psychedelic touches add intrigue, keeping the album immersive from start to finish.

With its polished, fluid experience, HENRY feels complete, earning an 8/10 for its cohesive atmosphere. While it doesn’t push too many boundaries, its consistency and subtle experimentation leave a lasting impact, offering a timeless, transportive vibe that fits seamlessly into any moment.

Album Cover of El Último Baile by Trueno
Album Cover of El Último Baile by Trueno

The Argentinians were absolutely dominating in 2024! On May 23, Trueno dropped his fourth album, El Último Baile, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop worldwide. This 13-track masterpiece offers a deep dive into the evolution of classic Hip Hop, blending funky, fresh beats with a powerful sense of nostalgia. El Último Baile captures the essence of the genre's golden years while adding Trueno's own modern twist.

Trueno’s El Último Baile is a brilliant homage to Latin hip-hop that hits all the right notes. With swagger and authenticity, he brings a nostalgic yet fresh perspective to the genre, blending his signature style with an undeniable energy. The album is a celebration of the culture, executed flawlessly, staying true to Trueno's roots while introducing new flavors.

The flow of the album isn’t seamless from track to track, but the progression builds steadily, giving you a journey through Hip-Hop’s evolution. The energy never dips, and even if the transitions are more abrupt, it always keeps you hooked—nostalgic, yet forward-thinking.

Diversity is one of the standout elements of El Último Baile. The album mixes hip-hop, dancehall, afrobeat, reggaeton, and electronic sounds, creating a high-octane, rhythm-packed experience. It’s a playful throwback with a modern twist—perfect for both old-school fans and new listeners craving something fresh.

What really sets this album apart is its completeness. Trueno and his team show restraint, letting the music breathe without overcomplicating things. The balance here is masterful—each track contributes to the whole, making the album feel tightly curated and intentional, without losing its raw energy.

Longevity-wise, El Último Baile doesn’t feel like a passing trend. Its nostalgic elements give it staying power, while its versatility makes it ideal for a variety of settings—whether you’re solo, hanging out with friends, or just cruising through the day. The more you immerse yourself in it, the more layers it reveals.

And let’s talk enjoyment—this album is pure energy. Every track gets under your skin, demanding you to move. It’s impossible to sit still while it’s on, and it’s the kind of record that lifts your mood instantly. Whether you’re dancing, vibing, or simply letting the energy take over, El Último Baile is an album that makes you feel alive.

Album Cover of SAKURA by SAIKO
Album Cover of SAKURA by SAIKO

Get ready to be transported to a musical galaxy far, far away! SAIKO’s SAKURA, released in April 2024, takes listeners on an interstellar journey through his unique sound universe. At first, I didn’t realize just how much this album had impressed me—until I saw it ranking seventh in this list, above some of my all-time favourites. I knew I enjoyed it and was impressed by its quality, but seeing it land so high was truly mind-blowing. That said, I’m here to break down my thoughts on why SAKURA has earned its spot and what makes this album so special.

From the moment I hit play, Sakura grabbed my attention with its bold, otherworldly concept. The universe SAIKO creates here is uniquely immersive—bright yet mysterious, like an epic journey through space. The fusion of trap and electronic elements is seamless, and the features, including J Balvin, Feid, and Mora, elevate the album’s futuristic energy, making it a sonic adventure full of surprises. It’s a world I didn’t expect to find in Latin music, and once I entered, I didn’t want to leave.

The thematic cohesion is strong throughout Sakura, especially with its blend of reggaeton and electronic grit. The transitions are smooth, and even on shuffle, the album feels perfectly curated. The vibe stays consistent, ensuring that each track flows naturally into the next. Whether you listen in order or mix it up, it all feels connected, making the listening experience tight and immersive.

SAKURA stands out for its sonic variety. From the get-go, it's clear SAIKO had a specific vision for the album, and he successfully brings in a wide range of influences. Features from big names like J Balvin and Feid add a fresh dynamic to the tracks, while SAIKO’s unique style remains the unifying thread. The album introduces varied textures, but it never strays too far from what makes SAIKO’s sound distinct, ensuring it stays fresh without losing its foundation.

Overall, Sakura feels like a complete and thoughtful project, but there are a couple of tracks that work better as singles than as part of the album. However, it doesn’t take away from the cohesion of the full work. SAIKO is clearly a creative force, and while the album shows tremendous potential, there’s room for even more growth. I’m excited to see what he’ll do next—his vision is just beginning to unfold.

Surprisingly, this album has that staying power—especially for someone who doesn’t usually gravitate towards trap-heavy albums. The mix of electronic, trap, and other genres keeps things dynamic without becoming overwhelming. It’s a well-crafted project that stands the test of time, and I find myself returning to it more than I expected. It’s got the right energy to keep drawing listeners back.

I’ve been genuinely surprised by how much I’ve enjoyed Sakura. It’s one of those albums that grows on you, and now I can’t stop thinking about it. SAIKO proves that with the right vision and creativity, there’s no limit to how far you can push boundaries. This album feels like a bold step forward for him, and I’m eagerly anticipating where he takes us next.

Album Cover of Cosa Nuestra by Rauw Alejandro
Album Cover of Cosa Nuestra by Rauw Alejandro

I genuinely consider Rauw Alejandro to be a new concept king in the Latin and reggaeton scene. The way he crafts characters, spins a story, and builds an atmosphere—while still pushing the boundaries of modern sound—is nothing short of brilliant. On November 15, 2024, he dropped Cosa Nuestra, his fourth studio album, and while I’m surprised it didn’t rank higher, I’m thoroughly hooked on this project. Throughout the year, Alejandro kept us all on edge, dropping one banger after another, leaving fans wondering how he would tie it all together. There’s so much to unpack with this album, so let’s dive in!

Rauw Alejandro's Cosa Nuestra takes you into a nostalgic, yet fresh, world where Puerto Rican migration, romance, and musical evolution intersect. Set in the 1960s-70s New York, the album explores the fictional character Raúl’s tumultuous love life against the backdrop of cultural shifts. The concept is compelling, but the album's flow isn’t as smooth as it could be. The track order feels more like a rollercoaster, with high-energy moments sometimes clashing with slower tracks. A tighter sequence would have made the narrative more immersive.

Where this album excels is in its diversity. Rauw effortlessly blends salsa, boleros, reggaeton, afrobeat, pop, and electronic styles. His vocals are dynamic—shifting from intimate whispers to powerful high notes—adding depth throughout. Collaborations with artists like Romeo Santos, Pharrell Williams, and Laura Pausini enhance the album's sound, making it feel both bold and expansive.

However, some tracks feel repetitive and might have worked better as singles. A leaner tracklist could have sharpened the album's focus, giving it more impact. Some big-name features also feel like they were included for star power rather than narrative cohesion, which detracts from the overall flow.

Despite these critiques, Cosa Nuestra remains addictive, thanks to its diversity and Rauw’s creative energy. It has staying power, and its depth ensures it’ll continue to resonate. The album’s immersive world feels perfect for a dynamic live show, showcasing Rauw’s ability to captivate both musically and visually.

RaiNao's unapologetic vulnerability and bold emotional exploration resonate on a personal level, making each track feel like an honest reflection of life’s complexities. The more you listen, the more you’re pulled into her world.

Capícu (Sonar) showcases incredible diversity, blending jazz, bolero, dembow, EDM, reggaeton, trap, and perreo into a cohesive 47-minute experience. As for enjoyment, this album has been on constant repeat. RaiNao’s sound is magnetic, and it draws you in with each listen. Her artistry stands out in a landscape full of noise, and I’m excited to see where she goes next—she’s a force to watch.

Album Cover of Att. by Young Miko
Album Cover of Att. by Young Miko

2024 seriously caught me off guard when it comes to Young Miko and her music. Att. dropped on April 5, 2024, and it hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting—it totally scratched an itch I didn’t even know I had! When I saw her perform at Fuego Fuego, I had no idea how much of her music I already knew word for word, but I was vibing so hard. This debut album blessed my ears in every way, but more than that, it won my heart instantly.

What’s amazing is how this album shows a softer, more vulnerable side of Young Miko while still keeping all the charisma and attitude that made her a star in the first place. It’s the perfect balance, and it shows exactly why she’s been getting so much recognition over the past couple of years. Att. has quickly become one of my top 5 albums of 2024, and honestly, it’s now a staple in my musical world. I can't stop listening to it, and every time I do, it just feels like it’s meant to be a part of my soundtrack this year.

Att. is a debut album that perfectly encapsulates Young Miko’s essence and journey. Minimalistic, gaming-inspired, and deeply personal, the album invites listeners into her world from the very first track, “Rookie of the Year.” It’s raw, direct, and unapologetically her, diving into themes of LGBTQ+ dating and her rise in the music scene. Sonically, it’s immersive—each track feels like a distinct piece of her story, blending intimate moments with bold declarations. This album is exactly what a debut should be: an introduction that’s as confident as it is captivating.

The flow of Att. is seamless, akin to navigating levels in an 8-bit video game. Each track introduces a new environment while maintaining a cohesive vibe. Young Miko’s raspy vocals and the soft, minimalistic production balance each other perfectly, guiding you through her journey with smooth transitions that feel intentional and immersive.

While minimalistic, Att. offers impressive diversity without overwhelming the listener. Trap, reggaeton, electronic, and even vogue influences pop up naturally, providing just the right amount of range to keep things fresh. The digital elements give the album a contemporary edge, marking a clear evolution from her earlier work. It feels like a natural progression, blending familiar sounds with new, innovative touches that showcase Young Miko’s unique style.

In terms of completeness, Att. is flawless. Every track feels perfectly placed, and the album’s flow is a reflection of Miko’s true self. It’s clear she poured her heart into this project, and the result is an album that works seamlessly whether you listen in order or on shuffle. It’s designed to be experienced in one continuous listen, capturing her essence in a way that feels incredibly authentic.

As for longevity, Att. has remained on heavy rotation since its release in April 2024, and I’m still not tired of it. This album has a timeless quality that ensures it will continue to resonate for a long time. It’s the kind of project that stays with you, no matter how many times you revisit it.

Simply put, Att. has become a part of my life. It was the perfect album for spring, and every moment spent with it feels like an experience. Young Miko has created something that’s not just an album but an emotional journey, and I can’t get enough of it.

Album Cover of En Las Nubes (Con Mis Panas) by ELENA ROSE
Album Cover of En Las Nubes (Con Mis Panas) by ELENA ROSE

Okay, I know this is technically an EP, but there was no way I could leave it off this list. ELENA ROSE is an absolute genius songwriter, and I’m still waiting for her to drop a full album! Between her own work and the fire features she’s blessed others with, this EP deserves its moment in the spotlight. Released in early November 2024, this 8-track project is exactly what I’ve been dying for from the Venezuelan-American artist.

Her angelic vocals snatched me up right from the first verse of the intro, and... My poor heart. As a straight female music lover, I might be in love with her, honestly. (If that’s weird, I’m sorry... but also, not sorry.) There’s just something about the way she sings that transports you into her world so effortlessly. This EP has quickly become one of my top 3 projects of 2024, and it’s honestly so rare for an artist to grab me like this. It’s the kind of music that makes me want to cry, dance, and fall in love all at the same time. ELENA, if you’re reading this—please, bless us with a full album ASAP because I’m not ready to let go of this magic. But let’s get into this EP, please.

En las Nube con Mis Panas is a beautifully effortless journey into Elena Rose’s world. The album radiates a cozy, laid-back vibe, inviting listeners into her personal space where she and her crew vibe, create, and simply exist. It’s a playful yet deep reflection of friendship and connection, with each track fitting perfectly into the dreamy concept. The sound is groovy and fun, but the real magic lies in how naturally everything flows together, making you feel like you're part of her world.

Elena Rose nails the flow here. Each song feels distinct but complements the others seamlessly. The transitions are smooth, and the variety in sound never disrupts the vibe—it’s like moving through different rooms in the same home. From R&B to ballads to a hint of música llanera, the diversity in sound keeps things dynamic while maintaining a unified feel.

The features—Álvaro Díaz, Greeicy, Scarlett Linares, and Neutro Shorty—add depth to the project, enriching the world Elena has crafted without overpowering it. They bring fresh textures, but each collaboration fits the album’s laid-back essence.

While the album is nearly perfect, the dual versions of “Me Lo Merezco” slightly disrupt the flow. A single version would have rounded things out more cohesively, but this is a minor issue in what is otherwise a tight, well-curated project.

This EP has staying power. It’s immersive, with Elena Rose’s velvet vocals making each listen feel like a soothing escape. It’s the kind of album you can come back to time and time again, getting lost in its world every time.

Album Cover of Todo Los Días Todo El Día by LATIN MAFIA
Album Cover of Todo Los Días Todo El Día by LATIN MAFIA

What can I even say about LATIN MAFIA? People seriously weren’t ready for the art these Mexican brothers were about to drop. I still remember watching clips of their performance at Sueños in Chicago, and how the crowd was so quiet—honestly, I was jealous for not being there. Even though they’re still pretty new to the scene, these guys have already mastered the art of crafting an intentional album. TODOS LOS DÍAS TODO EL DÍA is the perfect follow-up to their mainstream takeover, and let me tell you—this is the project that’s going to have people talking for a long time.

It’s bittersweet, honestly, because they’ve been this hidden gem for a while, but oh my god, do they deserve to be seen and admired. Released on October 24, 2024, this album is poised to change the Latin scene for good. As it gains traction, it’s clear that the landscape will never quite be the same. They’ve arrived, and I don’t think anyone is ready for what’s coming next.

Todo Los Días Todo El Día is an astonishing debut album that explores the complex balance between chaos and serenity. The album’s concept—a sonic journey through contrasting moods—comes across with maturity and depth that’s rare for newcomers. The mix of bold, disruptive soundscapes and peaceful, ambient undertones creates an immersive experience that pulls listeners in, making it feel less like an album and more like a full sensory journey.

The flow is seamless, despite the shifts in energy. Tracks move effortlessly from grunge-like intensity to ethereal, almost haunting melodies, maintaining an emotional resonance throughout. The transitions are thoughtfully constructed, using ambient textures to smooth the rough edges, creating an atmosphere that both engages and comforts. It’s a perfect storm of intensity and beauty, tied together by a clear purpose in every sound.

The album’s diversity lies in its ability to experiment with sonic layers and textures. There’s constant evolution in the instrumentals, keeping the listener engaged, but some tracks do blend into each other due to the consistent focus on ambiance. This isn’t a flaw—it’s intentional, helping to maintain the immersive atmosphere, though it occasionally sacrifices variation in the process.

Todo Los Días Todo El Día is perfectly complete. Every track feels meticulously placed, and the album works whether you're listening for detail or just letting it wash over you in the background. It’s cohesive and adaptable, standing strong in both casual and active listening settings.

The Lo-Fi elements, like subtle ambient sounds in tracks like “ven,” create a grounding effect that deepens the listening experience, making the album feel timeless. These small imperfections add authenticity, and it's easy to imagine returning to this album for years to come without tiring of it.

LATIN MAFIA has created something both innovative and grounded, capturing the messy contradictions of life with a fresh, artistic vision. This debut is an impressive feat, and it’s clear this project will continue to resonate deeply, making it one I’ll be playing for a long time.

Album Cover of SAYONARA by Álvaro Díaz
Album Cover of SAYONARA by Álvaro Díaz

FINALLY! We've reached the number one spot on my Top 15 Latin Albums of 2024, and I can barely contain my excitement to present SAYONARA by Álvaro Díaz. Let me tell you, this album did something to my soul, and I am hooked in the best way possible. It’s one of the most raw, honest explorations of heartbreak I’ve ever encountered—especially from a man’s perspective. When this dropped in May 2024, I was in the middle of my own heartbreak, and somehow, SAYONARA reshaped the way I view grief, love, and letting go. It was as if Álvaro tapped into the collective pain of love lost and turned it into a cathartic, yet beautiful, musical journey.

What stands out the most is the thoughtfulness and sheer articulation behind every single track. The album is perfect in its execution—there’s not a single moment that feels out of place. Álvaro Díaz, who is known for his experimental edge, leans more heavily into reggaeton here, and let me tell you, he owns it. He doesn’t just play with the genre; he reinvents it with layers of emotion, complex soundscapes, and an authenticity that is unmatched.

Honestly, I’m struggling to keep my thoughts concise because SAYONARA is so good, I could probably write an entire essay on it. But since this is supposed to be a general overview, I’ll do my best to keep it short and sweet. The depth, the vulnerability, the artistry—it’s all here. Álvaro Díaz truly outdid himself, and SAYONARA is a testament to what happens when an artist fully embraces their emotions and transforms them into something this powerful. Let’s dive into why this album is pure brilliance!

SAYONARA is an absolute masterpiece that transforms heartbreak into an emotionally captivating journey. Álvaro Díaz flips the traditional breakup narrative by presenting it from a male perspective, diving deep into the stages of grief with a rawness that’s both relatable and profound. The album opens with high-energy distractions, channeling the urgency of denial, then gracefully transitions through stages of sorrow, longing, and acceptance, all while maintaining a sense of emotional continuity. You feel each moment of the process, as if you're living the heartbreak right alongside him.

The flow is expertly crafted. The pacing mirrors the emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak—from the initial indulgence and partying to the slow, inevitable descent into deep sadness. The music isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a part of the emotional narrative. Every track feels deliberate, with the album building to a place of intense vulnerability and emotional reckoning. There’s a weight to each note as the story moves forward, capturing the lingering ache of a love lost.

The diversity in SAYONARA is stunning. Álvaro masterfully blends reggaeton, electronic beats, and synth-funk, allowing each genre to serve the emotional progression of the album. From the eerie, haunting opener “TE VI EN MIS PESADILLAS” to the high-energy tracks like “Kawa” and “LENTITO,” the album moves seamlessly between soundscapes, never feeling disjointed. Each song adds something essential to the overall story, whether it's a moment of catharsis, celebration, or reflection. The transitions between these genres mirror the highs and lows of the emotional journey.

The album’s completeness is unmatched. From start to finish, SAYONARA feels perfectly constructed. Each track flows naturally into the next, maintaining the emotional narrative while showcasing Álvaro’s versatility. There's no filler here—every song serves a specific purpose, contributing to the album’s exploration of love, loss, and self-discovery.

In terms of longevity, SAYONARA is a staple. It’s become a personal favorite, one that I can play on repeat without tiring of it. The songwriting, production, and emotional depth ensure that this album will stay in rotation for a long time. It has a timeless quality, blending present emotions with a lasting resonance that makes it both relevant now and future-proof.

Sayōnara is more than just an album; it’s an experience. Álvaro Díaz has created a deeply personal yet universally relatable narrative that resonates long after the last track fades. This is not just the breakup album of 2024—it’s an emotional journey that will remain a favorite for years to come. It’s hard to imagine a more complete, emotionally engaging project. Álvaro Díaz has truly crafted something extraordinary, and I can’t imagine my playlist without it. It’s a perfect, timeless masterpiece.
